The Essence of Good Erotica for Women

If we ignore naked men photos for the moment, my definition of good erotica for women involves depictions of sex where the woman's pleasure is paramount. That is - it has to be about HER experience of sex, HER pleasure, and HER orgasm. Everything else is really just window dressing.

That's not to say that it's not good to have all those other nice things in your couples photos - kissing, hugging, eye contact, an appearance of intimacy, a good looking guy, the woman not looking at the camera with a dick in her mouth... and I usually will pick content that has these things.

But I'm sure there are plenty of women out there who couldn't care less about that kind of thing - they just want it down and dirty. Which is great. Nonetheless, I'm certain every woman would prefer hardcore that reflected their experience of sex, that focused on the woman's pleasure rather than the man's, that depicts female - rather than male - fantasy.

And damn, if it isn't a job to find this kind of content. Most of the time I buy standard sets and manipulate them to be more female friendly - I'll take out the endless blowjob shots, I'll pick sets with cunnilingus in them (believe me, cunnilingus is GOOD), I won't buy sets where the model looks bored or is constantly looking at the camera...

When it comes to naked men - well, I've said here before, I don't find them arousing and I never have. I like to admire the physique of course, but it doesn't set off the fireworks. I suspect a lot of women are the same. And I think Devlynn's thoughts on the gayness of the model is also a common thing. I've seen mainstream boards where women have dismissed 4women porn as full of gays...

As for lesbian content... I think women love lesbian stuff, it's such a common female fantasy. But again, most lesbian content is designed for men - it's all about showing off two pussies (and it usually involves both of them looking at the camera, inviting the male viewer in to teach them a thing or two LOL). I'd prefer to see two women wrapped in each other, giving each other pleasure... a situation where I the viewer could imagine myself as either one of them...

Actually, I perhaps should add something about that. I suspect women look at porn in two ways - they are either doing it voyeuristically, or they are imagining themselves participating in the scene. Either way, they want to suspend disbelief and imagine that it's real.

The voyeur thing is the main reason I remove photos where the woman (or the man) looks at the camera. It breaks the illusion that one is peeking in, and it also proves that the sex isn't real.

The participation angle is linked to the idea of the woman's pleasure. Most mainstream porn is shot from the man's point of view, which is why we get so many sets where we rarely see the guy at all, except for his dick. I am yet to see a set of photos that are taken solely from the woman's point of view (e.g. the pics are mostly of him and what he's doing to her pussy). However, I can get that participation angle by choosing content that shows a more even-handed viewpoint, or that simply captures the action like a standard hollywood film... it creates a space for the woman to imagine herself as a player in that action.

Interestingly, the woman looking at camera thing seems to be there for men to feel involved... it's like there's no scope for the male viewer to put themselves in the male porn star's place. They have to be an outsider who is invited in by the gaze of the woman.

A while ago we were discussing the research from Northwestern university which suggests that women are more likely to become aroused from a variety of material:
"In contrast to men, both heterosexual and lesbian women tend to become sexually aroused by both male and female erotica, and, thus, have a bisexual arousal pattern."

I think this is fascinating research, and it proves that women aren't easily pigeonholed... so this goes back to the main idea - if your porn (whatever it may be, fetish, lesbian, straight, whatever) is focused on the woman's pleasure, then it's 4women porn.
