Step 5: Finding
Content
Finding decent
content is a peculiar difficulty faced by 4women webmistresses.
Ideally your content should follow the guidelines outlined above.
Unfortunately, most content providers shoot pics and movies designed
to appeal to men, which means plenty of facials, fellatio and
fake tits. The few who are making decent 4women content are well
patronised by 4women webmasters, thus reducing the freshness of
most of the content out there. Nonetheless, it’s worth ploughing
on; the viability of the niche and the need for new content means
the market is growing. If you do buy mainstream content, pic and
choose the “least worst” i.e. those that look as though they may
appeal to women, and follow at least a few of the above rules.
How to define a
"gay looking guy"? Well, for a start, get rid
of all those open-bum shots. They're just not attractive. If he's
wearing black leather straps or chaps, forget it. Ditto if he's
got a moustache that makes him look like he's straight out of
the Village People. Ideally, picture the stereotype of a gay man,
and that's what you need to get rid of. Add to that some "lying
down open legs" shots that look somewhat feminine, and facial
expressions that seem to say "hey big boy", as opposed
to "hi baby, let me kiss you passionately." Yes, I agree
that this is a very subjective comment... but "spot the gay
guy" is a very subjective thing. If you want a definite no-no,
just remember that two men having sex doesn’t cut it in the world
of 4women. Oh yeah, and beware of anything that suggests "twink"
- skinny young guys should be labelled "amateur" or
not used at all!
A good nude man
shot is usually tastefully shot, maybe in black and white, with
nicely toned muscles and a pert bottom. A romantic or fantasy
setting also helps. And if he's smiling - bingo. Ditto if he looks
like he's about to orgasm. Masturbation pics are good, as long
as we get to see his face.
Some content providers
that cater to women:
Ounique
has hundreds of couples and male sets, quite
cheap and available through free FTP. This is the ideal content
site for 4women webmasters.
There used to be more content providers but they've all closed down
Step
6: Stories, Toys, and "Value Added" Content and Advertising
The erotic story
is something of a standard for women's sites, and women tend to
be big buyers of erotic fiction paysites. This may be due to the
"women are more than visual" element. Stories engage
the imagination, and allow for a little more romance or fantasy
than your average sex pics provide.
Write your
own, make it sexy, and try and give it some kind of a plot. At
the same time, keep it tame. Make your character interesting,
and explore sensuality rather than pure sex. On free sites, let
your story build up to the moment of sex, and then end it. Once
again - we're keeping the surfer aroused but not satisfied. An
example of this sort of story can be found at my site
The
Captive Man.
While women like
looking at pictures and video, they're also interested in stimulating
their minds. You need to remember this when it comes to "value
added" material. While pics are an attraction, extra content
helps your site to stand out, and provides more opportunities
to display advertisements. On top of this, women haven't been
"trained" to like porn, in the same way that men have.
Instead, women have been "trained" to flick through
women's magazines in search of something interesting.
"Value added
content" ("V.A.C.") helps female surfers overcome
any disinclination to "porn" by keeping them interested,
and justifying the fact that they are looking at a smut site (the
"I only read it for the articles" defence). It's becoming
apparent that women like to explore every aspect of a site, and
they may see an advertisement for a sponsor a number of times
before deciding to visit or buy. V.A.C provides extra opportunities
to plug a product.
If you do include
V.A.C., keep it to a minimum. Paysites also offer this stuff,
and you don't want to outshine your sponsors. One page is plenty,
and a short one at that. Your extra content can include things
like opinion pieces, short articles (do NOT write more than 400-500
words), jokes, sex news, quizzes, or question and answer advice
columns (just make up the questions!). Think of what you find
in your average magazine, and adapt it (of course, don't plagiarise
anything; make sure it's your own work!).
Women's paysite
sponsors are beginning to offer value added content as promotional
material. This is the best sort of V.A.C. because it works as
an advertisement for the site, letting your surfer know what kind
of intelligent extras they'll get for their money. It also saves
you the trouble of having to make up your own content.
Another way of
"disguising" advertising as V.A.C is to include "Better
sex guides" or sex advice tips. There are a number of sponsors
currently offering videos and information services, and this is
your opportunity to plug them. Women's mags like Cosmo have been
selling "better sex advice" for years, so it's easy
to get in on the act.
Sex toys and adult
videos are the other "value added" way to make money
from women's sites. Traditional sex shops have often been intimidating
to women, so it's not surprising that they've taken to buying
vibrators online with gusto. Most 4women webmasters report a healthy
sideline in selling sex toys, via portal shops on their sites.
Lingerie is a difficult
area. While it offers the same anonymity of buying sex toys, the
online lingerie buyer does not get the chance to make sure it
fits (and a squillion women can tell you their own "One size
fits all" disaster story). Thus one needs to be a little
more careful with lingerie shops.
